VISION:

The Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) Academy of Leadership Development will build a community of professionals committed to effective leadership, while engaging in a culture of life-long learning, creative thinking and achieving the highest level of respect and recognition.  

LOGISTICS:

Academy and educational events will be held over a course of a year starting with an overview and orientation at the 2018 TRAPS Institute in Waco (March 2); two-day commitment once a month (April, May, September, October, and November ) and culminating with graduation at the 2019 TRAPS Institute (March).

Day one: 1 pm – 6 pm followed by dinner and dialog (cohort group stays together until 8 pm);

Day two:  Begins at 8/8:30 am and will conclude by 3 pm.

  • A cohort group of up to 20 individuals, selected via an application process and committee reviewed and notified by November. Cohort group will be key players in TRAPS’ legislative efforts starting January 2019.
  • The Academy Events will be held in various sites around the state to enhance the opportunity to interact with TRAPS leaders and leaders within the field of parks and recreation; and to potential visits to state of the art facilities and or cutting edge programs (DINNER & DIALOG).
  • Emphasis is on applied executive leadership skill development; thus participants will be engaged in small group activities, reflection and/or homework assignments.
